This beautifully presented, period detached holiday cottage is the perfect base for exploring this area of Cornwall. The St Austell Bay is dotted with secret coves and secluded beaches, enabling you to experience the diverse county at its best. The village of Charlestown is a short distance away, frequently used as a film and TV set with many restaurants on the ancient quayside. Visit the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both must-see attractions. Horse riding, sailing, surfing, sea fishing, shopping and golf are all available close by. Shop and pub 200 yards.
Great location close to lots of attractions local pub closed 20min walk to nearest .great cottage lovelynpkace to stay
One of the best cottages we have stayed in. and we have stayed in a lot!!!! Everything you could possibly need was provided
Centrally located in Cornwall, Penny Cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you want to explore what Cornwall has to offer (The Eden Project is a 10 mins drive away with Newquay, Plymouth & Falmouth only 45 mins by car). The property is absolutely spotless and is very well maintained by Mike and Hillary. It has everything you need to make it feel ‘a home from home’ (including the scones and cream on arrival), even when the “Great British Summer” lets you down. Putting it simply, a jewel in the Cornish crown and it deserves its high and consistent rating.
Really lovely cottage absolutely spotless with lovely scones and cream on arrival. Easy to get to Carlyon Beach on foot, walking distance to The Waves restaurant and easy link to A38, A30 and A391. You can even talk a walk to the Eden Project from here. Bit narrow for parking and there was some localised building work while we were there but it was almost finished. Lovely stay
We absolutely loved Penney Cottage. It was a super location for exploring Cornwall. It had a lovely garden too where we sat out in the late afternoon enjoying a glass of wine to bird song. The beds were great too. We found the entire cottage beautifully appointed, dressed and yet very comfortable. When we arrived we had fresh cream tea and a bottle of wine to greet us from the owners as well. We can not find a fault. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic cottage that has everything you would need from home. Immaculately clean and beautifully presented. It’s a great base for exploring the rest of Cornwall. Hilary and Michael have taken care of everything and also ensured if there was anything we needed, to let them know. Our children loved playing in the garden which is beautifully maintained. Can’t wait to return to Penney Cottage.
The owners of the cottage couldn't have been nicer! Really lovely and welcoming people and the cottage was super! We were sad to leave!
Our second visit to Penney Cottage in March 2019. Still absolutely brilliant! So comfortable and beautifully furnished. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. A great location and a lovely base for exploring all the villages and places of interest. So many great places seemed to be just a short drive away including the South West Coastal Path, Charlestown, the Eden Project, Fowey, Mevagissey, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Bodmin & Lanhydrock (National Trust). The owners are very friendly and helpful and live next door. They are happy to advise on local attractions. Parking on the drive a bit tight, but perfectly achievable, we had a big car and did it. If you don’t like the parking you can use the owner’s drive. The garden is a bonus on a sunny day and very pretty. A lovely cottage, and we hope to return next year.
Our stay October, 2019
A superbly renovated cottage in a very convenient location for visiting lots of villages and towns, as well as being a few minutes drive from the SW coastal path. High quality furnishings and fittings with everyone you could want. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Owners, Michael and Hilary, extremely welcoming and helpful with local information. Thoroughly recommended.
