Sunshine Cottage Porthleven

Sunshine Cottage is a cosy fisherman’s cottage, tucked off the main street in Porthleven. A two-minute walk from the harbour, with an abundance of restaurants, cafés, pubs and independent shops and galleries. The property has a small courtyard at the front ideal for catching the sunshine.

The lounge is surprisingly spacious with the wood burner being the central attraction, you can see how thick the stone walls are, leading through to the kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is lovely and bright and with the opening in the wall you don’t feel as if you’re on your own when your cooking! The stable door at the rear leads onto the shared grounds where you will find the washing line, great for hanging out wetsuits, bathers etc. The stairs leading from the living room are not suitable for children under five years, young babies are fine. Upstairs there are the two bedrooms, one kingsize and one with bunk beds. There is also a family bathroom housing the washing machine.

Porthleven is a working harbour so you will see fisherman unloading their catch, which they supply to the local restaurants, so you won’t get fresher fish! The beach is just past the harbour around the corner from the church; a very popular location for surfers all year round as well as the Blue Tits, Briny Brothers and Salty Sisters who all take a daily dip, these hardened locals can be seen bobbing up and down in harbour and in the sea.

It is a great place for families, walkers, cyclists and is particularly popular out of season as the weather is much milder, during a storm the views are outstanding. The nearest town is Helston 2. 5 miles away, a small market town with cobbled streets, a great play area and skate park; you can catch the bus from the harbour and leave the car behind. If you want to go further, south Penzance is just over 12 miles away, another working harbour, home to the Scillonian ferry and near to Marazion where you will see St Michaels Mount.
