Tolcarne Beach is one of Newquay’s eleven beaches and is only 5 minutes from the front door of this spacious semi-detached family home. Situated on a quiet road, this holiday home has everything you will need from ample parking to an enclosed garden with an outdoor kitchen where you can cook the fish you catch on one of the day boats that leave the nearby harbour daily. The property has also been awarded a Customer Choice Award for the 2nd year running. The beach has surf hire and a great bar/restaurant which sits right on the sand providing the perfect spot for the family in this Cornish coastal town.
Newquay is renowned for its surf culture and it never disappoints, with 50 year old surf shops offering body boarding, paddle boarding and sea kayaking, and plenty of surf schools and hire centres dotted around the bay.
Newquay also offers tennis clubs, leisure centres and an indoor trampoline centre. Enjoy a short stroll from the house around the boating lakes in the nearby park which has plenty of cafés, or try horse riding along the banks of the Gannel Estuary, a tidal river estuary that leads you all the way down to the beach at Crantock with its white talcum powder sand.
The shops, cafés, bars and restaurants of Newquay are a short stroll away with plenty of diverse choice offering something for all. Why not try the coastal drive passing many secluded beaches, many of which are home to seals? Go past the coves and up to Padstow, a culinary centre with Michelin starred eateries and great fish and chips dotted along the narrow lanes that lead to the pretty harbour.
Newquay has a great cinema, a theatre, many shops and a golf club overlooking Fistral Beach so there’s always something to occupy everyone. Beach 250 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
Beautiful home plenty of room for us. 7 adults 1 child. Very clean and tidy and the house had everything you could possibly need. Dart board was great fun for us in the garage. Beds were very comfy also which is always great when away on holiday. Met Graham one evening he was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be booking to stay there again.
Tolcarne retreat was a lovely place to spend a week, everything was brand new and clean which was to be expected as we were the 1st paying guests the owners told us, they were really friendly and always at the end of the phone for anything we needed during our stay. The beds were extremely comfy which is great in a holiday home, no expense seemed to have been spared on the comfort for the guests👏 The house was very well equipped although as we prefer to cook rather than eat out due to having a small child and dog we found the fridge to be a little small, maybe an extra fridge in the garage would be helpful especially for a full house occupancy, there was only 3 of us and a dog and we struggled with the fridge space. The house was lovely and warm whenever we needed it to be. The games room in the garage was an added benefit for the weather being so rubbish as well as having netflix on the tv. Our son loved the little space under the stairs. The only criticism i would give was a dog friendly place should be completely dog friendly(dogs aren’t allowed upstairs) we didn't find this a huge problem as our old girl cant make it upstairs these days anyway but i would think some people may find this an unnecessary ruling.
Our stay January, 2020
We had a fab holiday at Tolcarne Retreat. It was a 5* experience. The owner Graham welcomed us on arrival and showed us around this beautiful place. Ida our little 2 year old loved the special little room under the stairs to play teddy bears picnic. Our two boys aged 6 & 9 loved the games room, especially the table football. Garden was great for the 2 dogs to run around. We were the first in after the house had been renovated so it was all brand new. Very well equipt. Beach was just up the road for us all to have a nice walk especially the dogs. Would definitely use this lovely home again and thank you Graham and Mandy for the welcome pack.
