The Old Sawmill is a luxuriously appointed warm and cosy detached cottage within the tranquil location of a little Cornish village, tucked away off the beaten track, not suitable for long wheel base vehicles due to access restrictions. Formerly a working sawmill dating back to the 1800s, this lovely two double bedroom property features oak flooring and slate tiles. There is a modern contemporary wood burner in the living room, exposed beams with vaulted ceiling and great natural lighting.
Offering a comfortable three seater sofa and two armchairs, one of which is a wingback chair, along with a dining table and four chairs, and wooden blinds throughout. The bedrooms enjoy Egyptian cotton bed linen and there are big fluffy towels, waffle dressing gowns and hypo allergenic duvets. An initial supply of logs for the wood burner are included and a super welcome pack all goes to offer a spot of luxury to guests.
The ground floor bedroom has a zip and link kingsize bed which can be made into two single beds and has an en-suite shower room, whilst the upstairs bedroom has a kingsize bed with a double shower in the bathroom just across the hall. Mattresses are hand tailored in the UK and offer full body kinetic support with 2000 pocket springs. The cottage is situated in a quiet location, in a tiny village, but with good access onto the A38 and A390 making the cottage perfect for exploring the wider region of Cornwall. The friendly owners live opposite, on-site.
All in all a lovely cottage for quiet couples and families looking for a little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Carnglaze Caverns 10 minutes away, Eden Project 25 minutes and Bodmin Moor 15 minutes away. Looe and Polperro fishing villages and nearest beach is 25 minutes away. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Beautiful cottage! Impeccably decorated and clean throughout. A credit to the owners Jamie & Louise who were always available without ever being intrusive. Access to the property off main road can be a little tricky but there are plenty of passing areas. It is only a short drive to the town of Liskeard with large stores, shops and social amenities.
Ok I f only 2 people, clean
Excellent cottage which was very clean and well equipped. The owners Jamie and Louise were very friendly and helpful
High standard of accommodation, recently renovated, good quality of interior and beds very comfortable. Details on local area attractions and were available. Convenient location for both north and south coastlines, and we also travelled to St Ives quickly as access to main roads. Eden project only a short drive towards St Austell. Really enjoyed our short stay and didn’t want to go home.
Satisfactory
Cottage good but access road bit tricky and didn't see any local amenities within walking distance
Jamie and Louise made us feel very welcome and the provision of the beer and home made bread was much appreciated. The cottage is comfortable and generally very good
I found the cottage to be comfortable, well-equipped and, above all, extremely quiet. The owners, who live very close by, were both friendly and helpful but never intrusive. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The cottage was very nice but only big enough for a couple not for families as advertised. We’ve stayed at many similar places in the area and never had to buy additional heating, we found that very odd! We were disappointed when our friends came to pick us up one evening and even though they were only there for 10 mins, they were asked to move their car, there is plenty of room for other cars, again it seemed odd! The stay for us was purely to see friends and family in Cornwall so this property served its purpose.
Our stay October, 2019
What a beautiful place to stay. The cottage was superb and the hosts, Jamie and Louise, were perfect hosts. We would definitely recommend to everyone.
