Treat yourself to the delights of a working Cornish fishing village with a stay in this quaint holiday cottage. Just 50 yards from the quayside with superb views of the boats, this one time fisherman’s net loft is a cosy hideaway. The winding, narrow streets of Mevagissey, with its antique shops, pubs and restaurants are 100 yards down the pathway. With a wealth of outstanding beaches and coastal walks close by, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Tall Ships harbour at Charlestown, there is something for everyone. The Eden Project will also be of interest to many and lies within a short drive. Shops 100 yards, pubs and restaurants 200 yards.
Amazing holiday!
Fantastic little cottage in an amazing location , tempted to say it is awful to keep this little gem to myself!!! Will definitely be going back !!
Memory Cottage is right in the harbour. The views out of the windows are fantastic, it is wonderful to wake up and see the comings and goings of the fishing boats. Mevagissey boasts a fantastic range of cafes and restaurants. Local shops sell all you need but there are big supermarkets just outside St Austell if you need to supermarket shop. Tea on the Quay does great breakfasts, cakes and cream teas with their own coffee. The fisherman’s chippy sells delicious fish and chips and She sells is great for ice cream. The cottage is well equipped (you do need to take your own bath towels) and the beds are very comfortable. The only slight disappointment is the bathroom as the shower is not very powerful and it was chilly when we stayed (April), but other than that we had an amazing time. We prebooked parking just on the edge of the town which saved us having to drive through the very narrow streets each time we wanted to go out. The town has a museum, aquarium and model railway museum which are all worth a visit and the “treasure trails” company do a treasure hunt that takes you around the town. There are costal walks along the costal path right outside your front door and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are walkable from the cottage (if you don’t mind a muddy walk uphill.)
We enjoyed a lovely week in this warm cosy cottage with glorious views over Mevagissey harbour and out to sea.
Our stay October, 2019
The view is amazing well worth the climb. Cottage comfortable and well equipped. The shower wasn't brilliant but plenty of hot water and storage heaters warmed cottage up nicely. We parked in harbour car park cost £35 for the week machine only takes coins, shops not happy to change notes, we phoned harbour number and a very pleasant and helpful harbour master took our notes and gave us parking permit. The only thing we were not happy about was no recycling bags/boxes supplied hated throwing recycling away. Definitely worth a second visit and we will be going back.
