This detached holiday cottage, set on a working farm, on the owners estate comprised of farmland and woodland, is fitted and furnished to a good standard and is a perfect place to unwind or explore, either on foot or by car. Situated a few miles from Bodmin and Wadebridge, and a short drive from Padstow with its shops and Polzeath with its beach. Within easy reach of Port Isaac, made famous by TV’s Doc Martin. Along the coast are Tintagel, Boscastle and Newquay with its surfing. Shop 3 miles, pub 2 miles.
Our 4th stay so really enjoy coming back
Third visit and again great stay
Equipment best we have ever seen. Even a cream tea on arrival, breakfast cereals, chocolates, sauces, and they could not do enough for us. Only small niggle, no wardrobes to hang clothes.
The owners were very friendly, gbut nowhere to hand clothes is awkward. The table is too high for the chairs. The heating did not work but temporary heaters were provided.
Our stay October, 2019
Arrived to find the cottage immaculate with a wonderful welcome spread of Cornish delights. Binky greeted us shortly afterwards and gave us a great overview of the area, where to head / things to do. Cottage was lovely, warm (with underfloor heating in all areas except main en-suite), full of character and very cosy. The cottage is situated on the main Colquite estate along with (we think) one other rental property - only comings and goings were due to the shooting season occurring at the same time as we were staying so late in the season, even then we were out for most of the day so had little distractions. Only negative was that the games room was not available as advertised as this is converted into a base for the shooting parties during the shooting season - a bit disappointing as this was a reason for choosing the cottage and we had not been notified that it would not be available. Fortunately weather throughout the week was very good, spent the week learning to surf in nearby Harlyn Bay (picturesque), cycling the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow and back, and plenty of walks & cream teas. Charlestown on the south coast also worth a visit. Overall very happy - low score for local amenities but we knew that in advance, Wadebridge is a 10-15 minute drive with plenty of supermarkets. Knocking a couple of marks off for the games room not being available but even without it was excellent value, would definitely recommend. Thanks to Binky and all for hospitality!
