Historic character cottage in St Mawes, Fuchsia Cottage is a traditional Cornish fisherman’s cottage modernized making it very cosy and welcoming. From the entrance hall you enter the charming character living room which has beamed ceiling, stone fireplace and a wall mounted TV, the perfect room to relax after a day at the beach. To the rear of the cottage is the bright modern kitchen/dining room well-equipped with a range of fitted units, electric oven and hob, dishwasher and draw style fridge. To the side of the kitchen is a pantry with a separate freezer and microwave. Also on the ground floor is a modern fitted bathroom with bath. From the living room stairs rise to the first floor leading to the large double bedroom with kingsize bed and wardrobes. Their is an ample second bedroom with single bed and also a wardrobe. The the stairs to the bedrooms may not be suitable for the less mobile. Outside at the rear of the property you will find a private courtyard patio area with garden furniture ideal for breakfast or al fresco dining. There is a single designated parking space a few yards from the cottage. Pets are welcome subject to conditions .
The pretty village of St. Mawes looks out over the River Fal towards Falmouth. The old fishing port boasts steep and narrow streets rising from the harbour. St Mawes has become a popular tourist destination with good restaurants, attractive shops and a number of galleries. There are two very good beaches on either side of the St Mawes harbour. They are good for swimming and ideal for sunbathing. There is a local sailing club and tennis courts can be hired in the recreation ground, St Mawes castle overlooks the coast with an impressive position built in the 16th century as part of the coastal defences. The castle belongs to English Heritage and is open all year round. The building with its three huge circular bastions and gun ports is a fine example of Tudor military architecture. Beach ¼ mile.
