Bellscat Barn - Facilities

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in an elevated position just outside the historic village of Golant, this spacious, detached barn conversion enjoys outstanding views of the beautiful Fowey Estuary, the countryside and the boats that drift by. The village of Golant is home to myths and legends, with its own pub serving very good food and facilities for boat launching and crabbing. Golant has accompanied canoe hiring and is the home of Castle Dorr rowing club, there is also a carnival in August with teas and children’s races. The village also boasts a Grade I listed 12th-century St Sampson Church, from which the parish takes its name. The Saints Way crosses the entrance road to Bellscat and goes across the fields down to the village and on to Fowey, and there are several coastal walks in the area.
Golant is only 3 miles from the picturesque harbour town of Fowey, a small bustling port steeped in history. Fowey itself has so much to offer, you can take a leisurely walk around the town and sample a Cornish cream tea overlooking the busy and vibrant harbour, or after a busy day, sample a Cornish real ale from one of the many pubs and restaurants. Fowey also has many craft shops and art galleries, so you are never short of a look into Cornish culture. Fowey Regatta is held every August and is a fun-filled week of sailing races, crab catching, children’s entertainment, a carnival, live music on the quay and fireworks. Fowey is also famous for being the home of Daphne Du Maurier and in May every year the Du Maurier Society hosts its celebrated ‘Fowey Festival’ of arts and literature.
Beaches nearby include Polkerris, Crinnis Beach at Carlyon Bay and Par Sands. The world-famous Eden Project is just over 6 miles away, with its magnificent biomes. It also hosts concerts and themed events throughout the year. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is absolutely worth a visit, set in 200 acres that were once lost under brambles and restored to their former glory. You can explore the gardens and the estate and really appreciate Heligan as one of the finest gardens in England.
Should you wish to venture further afield, Cornwall’s capital, Truro, has an impressive cathedral and many things to do for all ages. Padstow, St Ives, Looe, Polperro and Port Isaac are all within easy reach by car. Beautiful beaches, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds are all on the doorstep of this gorgeous barn conversion.
