This charming cottage with its own secluded rear garden, occupies a wonderfully peaceful location overlooking Siblyback Dam and open countryside, 8 miles from the sandy beach at Looe. Attached to the owners’ home, it stands in 2-acre grounds with a footpath running to the lake where various water sports and fishing are available. Nearby are the spectacular Golitha Falls and Bodmin Moor offers excellent walking. Several National Trust properties are within easy reach and the Eden Project is a 40-minute drive. Shop 2 miles, pub 3 miles.
A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location with a fabulous host. What more could you ask? Cream Tea of course! Hey presto you get that too as a charming house warming gift. Perfect for a small family get away and close to the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. We shall be returning... definitely .
Fantastic week, ideal location and very peaceful. Jean is great and the house is beautiful.
From the moment we arrived following the clear instructions, Jean welcomed us to the cottage. She even had a traditional cream tea and big pot of tea for us. The cottage is set in a very quiet peaceful location but is within easy driving distance of local amenities and the beautiful south Cornwall fishing villages. The cottage sits in a large sloping garden which the kids loved. An atmospheric old track leads to the top of the Sibleyback dam within a 15 minute walk. The inside of the cottage is characterful and well appointed. The bathroom and kitchen are modern and have all the utensils and mod cons that make a holiday easier for everyone. The beds deserve a special mention and with the comfort and peace and quiet I slept the best I have done on any holiday I can remember. Jean put out some cushions on the front seating area when we were out on our first day and watching the local bats and listening for the owls in the quiet surroundings was joyful. The cottage is lively, the surroundings so peaceful and Jean is the perfect host being there if she is needed but not intrusive. It really felt like we were staying with an old friend. We will definitely return.
Cosy cottage well situated for getting around the North part of Cornwall. Lovely rural situation for relaxing away from it all. Adjoins owners property who gave us a very warm welcome with a cream tea. Property would benefit from adequate draught exclusion provision as we were there when Storm Gareth hit and the stable doors were not adequately insulated although in summer are no doubt a delightful feature! The owners thankfully had kindly provided an additional heater but the property took a long time to warm up! The kitchen diner is small which was fine for us being 2 adults but would be a squeeze for 4. We found everything we needed was provided.
