Welcome to The Steps; a charming first floor apartment above the popular Ship Inn in the Cornish village of Pentewan, at one time the third largest exporter of China Clay in the county. Now the pretty harbour is quiet, whilst the village is a delight to visit and retains many original buildings. Just 2 minutes from The Ship Inn, lies the beach, a large stretch of near pure white sand, well maintained and privately owned but with public access.
From here you can follow the beautiful and scenic Pentewan Valley Trail, formerly the railway linking Pentewan with the town of St Austell. One of the must visits in the area is Mevagissey, an attractive fishing port just over 2 miles distant. Here, this unspoiled coastal haven offers a throwback in time, narrow streets, leaning cottages, quaint pubs, and restaurants along with its working harbour. An equally short distance away is Charlestown, an iconic harbour and so often the setting for some of the best films and TV series in the county, including Poldark.
There is an excellent museum and wide variety of public houses, bars, and restaurants along with the harbour’s own fleet of magnificent rigger ships. The Steps, aptly named as the apartment has its own external access, a flight of Cornish stone steps; offers comfortable accommodation for two guests. Ideal as a base to explore South Cornwall and its many beaches, coves, and costal walks.
An open plan living/dining area with inviting leather sofas leads onto a kitchen with all the essentials, great for preparing breakfast or evening meal. Of course, you could always book a table downstairs in The Ship Inn itself! There is a double bedroom and family bathroom complete with bath and shower over. Please note, due to the apartment being situated above the inn, there may be some residual noise from the day to day running of the establishment.
