This adorable stone cottage sits proudly within the fantastic grounds of what was once a Workhouse, and later a hospital, dating back to the mid 18th century and following the famous architect Moffat & Scott’s designs, both famous for the building of many workhouses in the country. Retreat court is the perfect base from which to both to explore and discover this picturesque area of Cornwall, or to relax and unwind in your beautiful surroundings.
From the well-equipped kitchen, to the very comfortable corner sofa and inviting recliner, there is plenty of space for four guests to spread out and enjoy. Bedroom one boasts a kingsize bed and adjoining en-suite with shower. The second bedroom has two sumptuous single beds, whilst a family bathroom, with both bath and shower over completes the accommodation. There is gas central heating throughout and parking for one car. No pets permitted.
So, where to venture to first? The beaches nearby are superb and varied, from stretches of golden sand to rugged coastlines and cliff top walks. Nearby Newquay offers the water sports enthusiast many energetic activities, with surfing at the helm, whilst the broad expanse of famous Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth are popular with families. You’ll find many rockpools at low tides, where children of all ages will enjoy searching for crabs! Newquay, a vibrant hub, has many pubs, restaurants and shops, whilst to the north lies Padstow, where fish cuisine of the highest order can be enjoyed and appreciated, including a Michelin star restaurant. Sit by the harbour here and watch the world go by, and the small fishing boats come and go.
Wadebridge, just nine miles to the north-east is a pretty town, sitting side by side with the River Camel, where you can enjoy breath taking scenery from the length of the world famous Camel Trail, from Padstow to Bodmin.
