This detached, timber lodge is situated on a quiet, gated site, home to The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre, and close to Padstow and Newquay. Hen Harrier Lodge, with its stunning interior design, provides comfortable and stylish accommodation from which to enjoy this beautiful county and coastline. Guests can visit the Cornish Bird of Prey Centre for a total charge of £10 for up to 6 people for as many visits as you would like during a 7 day stay. The lodge is surrounded by fishing lakes and woodland walks for you to take advantage of the Cornish countryside right on your doorstep. The garden is the perfect place for children and dogs to play all day, fully enclosed with artificial grass and large decked barbecue and hot tub areas fully equipped with outdoor armchairs, dining furniture and sun loungers.
Padstow, home to the foodie empire of Rick Stein, the celebrated TV chef, has narrow cobbled lanes that meander around this ancient fishing village and gravitate towards the working fishing harbour. Get a pasty or an ice cream and watch the boats come and go with the days catch. Padstow sits at the mouth of the Camel Estuary and you can hire bikes in the town and cycle along the flat multi-use trail that hugs the shoreline as it heads into the countryside towards the market town of Wadebridge, full of craft and gift shops and bakeries.
The coastline nearby is dotted with secluded sandy coves and fishing villages which make a stunning backdrop to the South West Coast Path, which is a must if you enjoy walking and great views. Newquay, renowned for surf culture across its 11 beaches, is also easily reached with its own zoo, tennis club, cinema, ample bars, restaurants, cafés and coffee shops. Why not book some lessons with a local surf school and try your hand at this amazing sport?
Port Isaac, Polzeath and Rock are all nearby and easily reached with many golf clubs in the region including The Point, St Enodoc and Merlin, enabling you to play at many clubs through the week. The south coast of Cornwall is also easily accessible and offers a completely different experience of Cornwall with tropical gardens and its own climate. Visit Falmouth, Fowey, Mevagissey, or one of the lovely beaches including Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach for a great day out. Beach 5½ miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile. Hen Harrier Lodge can be booked together with Eagle Owl Lodge to accommodate up to 12 guests.
WOW! What a lovely place. Home from Home. We spent Christmas at the lodge and it was fabulous, clean, fully equipped, lovely lake walks, great location, we will definitely be back!
Fantastic place! Pictures on the add doesn’t do it justice. weather wasn't good but still had a lovely time. Log burner for the cold rainy evenings lovely walks round the lakes with the dog. Everything you could want for a chilled break. Highly recommend
Excellent location for visiting around Cornwall. Beautiful Lodge so much room lovely ground and walks around the Lakes with the dog. Excellent presentation, clean well equipped every thing you need. The only down side was the noise from the traffic on the main road, but did not dampen our holiday.
Overall pretty pleased with the lodge. However, no pubs or shops within walking distance, or certainly none that we could find, so a car is essential. The lodge is 5 minutes from Wadebridge, 10 minutes from Padstow and 20 minutes from Newquay. It is also located very close to a busy road which you do hear, especially when sitting out the front. We used the hot tub on a number of occasions but we were sometimes unable to turn the jets on (seemed like a lack of power but could have been us!). Other than these things, the lodge is very comfortable, spacious and comes with some nice touches (good WiFi, freeview TV, Netflix etc). We also took a dog who had plenty of space to run around in a large secured garden.
Had a lovely 2 weeks at Hen Harrier lodge. It was a great base for exploring Cornwall. Nice to come back to the hot tub after a day out and about. The garden was perfect for our dog too. The lodge is tastefully decorated and well maintained. Communication with the owners was great and received detailed instructions on the lodge which were very helpful. The guys that manage the lodges were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this lodge for families or couples.
Superb lodge in great location for getting to everything, a bit too near to main road noise wise for us but still enjoyed stay
Genuinely fabulous lodge. location great for Padstow and Newquay and all the link roads into the south west. Secure, clean, well furnished and great communication if any issues. Can’t recommend highly enough, we absolutely loved this place and will definitely be returning.
Our stay January, 2020
We spent a fantastic new year away at Hen Harrier lodge. The site was beautiful and peaceful and loved walking around by the lakes. The location was close to all the places we like to visit like Padstow, Harlan Bay, Newquay and Fistral beach and one day took a trip to St Ives which was about 40 mins away. Tried the Rick Steins restaurant on Fistral beach and had a meal at his pub in St Merryn the Cornish Arms which was about 10 mins away- would highly recommend both. The cottage itself was very well equipped with everything you could need and lots of nice personal touches which made it feel very homely. Lots of contact with the owner beforehand and was a very simple process to get in and enjoy our holiday We will be back again :-)
