Located on The Point Golf Resort, an 18-hole golf course, just a mile from the pretty village of Polzeath, Janners Retreat is a semi-detached stone cottage with upside down living accommodation. The cottage is surprisingly spacious, and provides homely accommodation right in the heart of this renowned golf resort on the beautiful north Cornish coastline. The resort has a large sports complex including tennis courts, swimming pool, gym, café, bars and a restaurant. The village of Polzeath with its golden sandy beach and beautiful coastal walks is just a 15-minute walk via the golf course. The village has great local bars, pubs and restaurants as well as independent shops, surf hire and water sports tuition. Polzeath sits in a sandy cove between Port Isaac to the east and the Camel Estuary, Rock and Padstow to the west.
From here you can catch a ferry to Padstow from Rock and meander down the narrow streets, grab a pasty or fish and chips from Rick Stein’s quayside ‘chippy’. Alternatively, dine in Michelin starred restaurants hidden away in the back lanes of this pretty working fishing village, and watch the boats come and go from the pretty harbour. For the more active there are several places where you can hire bikes, and you can cycle along the Camel Trail that hugs the shore of this tidal estuary, and flows inland to the market town of Wadebridge. If cycling is not your thing it still makes a beautiful walk. The local St Enedoc Hotel near Rock has a superb eatery and a great spa for that luxurious treat. Port Isaac is home to TV’s ‘Doc Martin’ and is a perfect example of a Cornish fishing village, while here why not try Nathan Outlaws’ Fish Kitchen, the perfect place to eat . Horse riding, watersports, sailing, cycling, fine dining, beautiful scenery and walks are all possible in this stunning corner of Cornwall, and Janners Retreat is right at the heart of it all on this beautiful golf resort. Beach 1 mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant on-site.
The cottage is well located and was very comfortable. More room than we thought looking at photos. Garden has lots of room for kids to run about and was also secure. We had a great week there and would definitely book again.
Our stay October, 2019
* A nice spacious house in a private estate with upside down accommodation [bedrooms on the ground floor] * A 15minute walk into Polzeath but to be honest there's not much there apart from surfing. Things that let the property down...…… *Property in need of a upgrading, carpets poor, no shower curtain in the bathroom. * Beds not comfortable, very soft mattresses and we had to mend one of the single beds where the mattress slats were broken / missing If 6 or more staying be prepared to wait for hot water to shower * Main access road poor with numerous potholes * Could be more information in the house on the local facilities, walks etc
