Gem House Apartments are ideally situated on the north Cornwall Coast, within a stroll of Mawgan Porth beach, a wide sandy bay leading into the village with its own village stores, restaurant, surf shop and local pub serving great food and drinks.
The Pickle Pot is next to The Jam Store and these two single storey apartments are adjacent to the owner’s home. They are named after the owner’s artisan cottage industry making award winning marmalades, pickles and jams. The owner even offers the opportunity for jam making classes, so you can take home your own jam or marmalade.
Mawgan Porth is situated between Newquay and Padstow, both of which offer a diverse range of activities. Padstow is easily reached either by the coastal road, which dips in to secluded coves, or by the coastal path; where fine dining, fishing, boat trips and cycling along the Camel Trail can all be enjoyed in this quaint fishing village. Famous for its surfing beaches, just 3 miles away, Newquay offers an array of attractions including a zoo and sports centres. At Watergate Bay, 3 miles along the road or coastal path, there is a beach café and an extreme sports academy offering kite surfing, windsurfing and much more.
The properties are ideally situated for visiting the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Moor. Newquay airport is just minutes’ away, so why not fly in and leave the car at home, or perhaps enjoy a flying lesson and take a bird’s eye view of the stunning coastline? Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 4 guests.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend this place to others. The owner was welcoming and the accommodation was brilliant.
This has been our 3rd visit as it is so good
The jam store was a lovely house to stay in, everything we needed and Roger was a lovely host and left us some great goodies. Great views from the house and garden and very close to the beach!
We had a fantastic holiday, Roger was a great host and the apartment was great.
Lovely cottage in a great setting. About 5mins walk from the coastal path. We had a wonderful relaxing week with our dog. Roger the owner makes his own jams & chutney's and we could not resist buying several to bring home with us. All in all a fab holiday & we would definitely recommend The Jam Store.
This is the second time we have stopped at The Jam Store and it certainly will not be the last. Roger is a fantastic host. The cottage is extremely well equipped, very comfortable and clean. The local shop is well stocked. The beach and surrounding area is stunning. I can’t praise this holiday let enough.
2nd time here and absolutely fantastic place once again
Lovely cottage exceptionally clean and beautiful location. The owner makes jam so bought several jars back home. Fridge freezer, dishwasher and cooker were immaculate. The beaches are perfect as we had our 18month old Shih Tzu with us. A lovely holiday.
I stayed at the Jam Store with my wife and small cockapoo. It was a lovely place, very clean and comfortable. On arrival there was some basics supplied, bread, milk, tea, coffee, butter and some of Rogers own jams and marmalade (delicious). The accomodation was fitted to a high standard. It is in a good position with on site parking, and is easy to access the beach 5-10mins down the hill. a little longer coming back up. Mawgan Porth was lovely and very dog friendly. We would recommend it and definately stay again.
Excellent host, lovely clean and presented accommodation. We will rebook for later in the year.
Our stay December, 2019
We spent Xmas at the cottage, clean & comfortable - weather was horrendous! But Xmas day was dry, bright & sunny!! The beach is beautiful - dogs paradise in all weathers. Ate at the Merrymore hotel - food was good & plenty of it! Service great!! Well worth the money. Went to Catch which is more upmarket but found it expensive - did not have lobster or mussels although it was on the menu. Roger - the cottage owner was friendly & helpful - but although the cottage is 300m from the beach it does mean a steep down-hill 10 min walk or going down steep steps. He left us plenty of extras - even bacon & eggs!! Thank you Roger. Your jams are delicious!! It is a lovely place but you must have a car to get about.
