Set in the gently undulating foothills of Bodmin Moor, Rosecraddoc Manor boasts a history that dates back to the Domesday Book. Rebuilt in the 1820s it is Grade II listed, together with the two bridges in the grounds – one of which forms part of the entrance drive. The manor house and coach house have been converted into apartments, all furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with many luxurious touches that will appeal to the most discerning of visitors. Access to the front door of the Manor is by three stone steps. Some of the accommodation features four poster beds, some offer spa baths and some offer saunas.
Heron is a first floor studio-style apartment, whilst Riverview and Riverbank enjoy a secluded position on the banks of the small cascading river, with pretty aspects across the river and parkland towards the lake – these two cottages include special features to make them suitable for wheelchair users.
Lakeview stands about 75 yards from the manor, in an enviable position overlooking the fishing lake, and enjoys particularly beautiful views from its first floor living room and large balcony.
Rosecraddoc Manor is surrounded by 35 acres of natural gardens and bluebell woods that beckon to you to stroll along its footpaths. The lake is well stocked for coarse fishing, with carp, roach and bream, and the all weather tennis court can be enjoyed April – October. There are several pubs locally.
Looe, with its many attractions is just 8 miles away whilst historic Plymouth with its city attractions and the Eden Project are both about 20 miles. Shop and pub 1½ miles.
Firstly we were met by a rude manageress. The sleeping area was ok but the bathroom suite and kitchen were very dated. The flush did not work on the toilet, which meant we had to use a bowl of water to flush it everytime we used it. We were not impressed with having to pay extra for any electricity used, bearing in mind we had to put the immersion heater on every time we wanted a shower! To add insult the electricity used had to be paid by cash to the managers. We booked Rosecraddoc as a fishing holiday, but the lake was so covered in lilies that my husband could not fish at all. Leaving him disappointed. We will not be back!
Lovely area with accommodation around a lake.
The cottage was comfortable clean and well located for a getaway from town and city life. The holiday was value for money. The only set back with the cottage was the lack of equipment in the kitchen, ie: no glasses of any type (water, wine).
Our stay September, 2019
lovely location nice place but the heron needed updating ,water system needs sorting out curtain would be better than a blind at the window as you need a bit of privacy when getting changed
