Maybird Cottage is a traditional, Cornish, end terrace cottage, sitting in the heart of Hayle close to shops, a pub, and the beautiful wide beach and extensive sand dunes. Hayle is a popular holiday destination with a vibrant local community. Convenient for visiting St Ives by road or take the scenic coastal train from the nearby local branch line, a truly magical journey passing the wide Hayle Estuary and many beautiful beaches on route. The regular services will take you directly into St Ives where you will find stunning beaches, a quaint harbour and interesting streets filled with curiosity shops, art galleries, cafés and a great choice of restaurants. St Ives is home to The Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth museum. Call en-route at beautiful Carbis Bay, a wide sandy beach popular with families and sun bathers. Hayle sits close to major road links making the cottage a popular destination with guests looking to explore the delights of Cornwall including the rugged north coast, popular with surfers. Gwithian beach, Godrevy Lighthouse, perched on its rocky outcrop, the family friendly beaches at Portreath and Porthtowan, which both have great beach cafés, are all on the north coast.
Just a 15-minute drive west you will find the historic town of Marazion, overlooked by the iconic St Michael’s Mount, Penzance, with its tales of pirates, and the pretty harbour and picturesque village of Mousehole, famous for its Christmas festivities and lights. Hayle has a good selection of local shops, and a choice of main supermarkets, takeaways, local pubs serving good food and restaurants. The area attracts birdwatchers from around the UK with its wide estuary and famous marshes at Hayle and the wildlife sanctuary at nearby Marazion. Dolphins, basking sharks, seals and variety of wildlife frequent the coastline so binoculars are recommended. You will also find subtropical gardens to visit, numerous National Trust properties, miles of scenic coastal paths to roam and some of the UK’s most stunning beaches on your doorstep. The cottage has been lovingly renovated and provides comfortable accommodation for four guests and will suit small families and equally popular with couples looking to get away, whatever the season. It was a lovely cosy cottage but also very spacious. Also lovely and clean which is the most important thing to me. Location is perfect for pubs, restaurants, shops and only up the road from the beach. Great place to stay would definitely recommend.
