Gull Cottage - Facilities

Gull Cottage is located in a purpose-built holiday village. The name mean ’Village of Gardens’ in Cornish and is a beautiful setting, small bridges cross over the streams and the gardeners keep the grounds to a high standard. You feel that you are in the middle of a tranquil secluded area with the abundance of trees and plants. Ideal for breaks throughout the year and due to the mild climate there is always plenty to do.

The facilities on site are great for families. There is a children’s play area outside and for very young ones, there is a ball pool and soft play area inside. The tennis courts are open all year, pop to reception to get the access code. If you’re feeling energetic there is a gym on site. Near the reception you will find a cafe/bar open from April to end of October . The laundrette is behind the café with coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers.

This part of Cornwall has an abundance of beautiful beaches, National Trust properties and gardens. Cornwall is known for its amazing beaches. The closest beaches are Swanpool and Maenporth just 1 mile away. Gyllyngvase is the largest in Falmouth just a short drive away. It is a sandy flat beach with parking nearby. There is a Gylly Beach Cafe on the beach, where you can choose from a hot chocolate, a snack or try the locally sourced mains.

An ideal base to explore the area and for gardening enthusiasts, Trebah and Glendurgan are close by. Falmouth town is 5 minutes’ drive away where you can explore the Maritime Museum, wander the cobbled street looking at the local shops, great for gifts and souvenirs. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from. Why not pick up some fish and chips and eat them at the harbour looking at the boats. There is usually a large ship that has come in for repairs and you may even see a cruise ship as this is a popular stop off for them.

For walkers you will be spoilt by the choice of coast walks to admire the wildlife and enjoy the fresh air. Why not wander around Pendennis Castle? It was an artillery fort constructed by Henry V111 and you can walk around the moat, stop for an ice cream and admire the view. It is now in the care of English Heritage and open to the public. If you want to surf then Porthleven is a good choice, a beautiful small harbour with its own beach, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Great for a day out or night out, it is 30 minutes away. Why not take the younger ones to the harbour to catch crabs, or let the older ones play in the water!
