Just a mile off the A39, between Bude and Clovelly, is Tricks Cottage in the tranquil hamlet of Woolley, perfectly situated for walkers and lovers of outdoor activities. Full of charm and character, this detached cottage which was converted in 2004 from a 17th century workshop has traditional old beams and low ceilings but benefits from underfloor heating.
Tricks is in the perfect rural location to enjoy North Cornwall and North Devon. Some of the most popular surfing beaches in Cornwall are close by and secluded coves are just a short drive away. The area is famous for its natural beauty and stunning Atlantic coastline walks are available along the South West Coast Path with views of the island of Lundy. Beautiful woodland and country walks are also within easy access of the cottage along a no-through lane. Two outstanding historic pubs offering real ale, superb food and log fires are both just a 5-10-minute drive.
Just 3 miles away is the small town of Kilkhampton with its 12th century church, post office, two convenience stores, an independent butcher, takeaways and pubs. Just 10 miles to the south lies the traditional seaside town of Bude, renowned for its surfing beaches and offering other excellent facilities including golf, tennis, boating, bowling, horse riding and leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. It has an interesting selection of independent shops, as well as a few high street favourites and also offers a wide variety of eating places.
Further afield but ideal for a day trip is the fishing town of Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series ’Doc Martin’ and the Fisherman’s Friends! Just over the border into Devon and a short drive away is the wild romantic Hartland Point with its clifftop hotel and heliport for Lundy Island and just beyond that, is the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly with its cobbled streets and 14th century harbour. Shop 3 miles, pub 2¼ miles.
Beautiful well equipt cottage in quiet area. Excellent location for getting to local attractions. We would definitely stay again but sadly from 2020 they will no longer be allowing pets so we won't be able to.
Lovely cottage, everything you need is there.
GREAT PLACE, VERY REMOTE BUT LOVELY AND QUIET. VERY SPACIOUS AND EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED WAS SECOND TO NONE, EVERYTHING YOU COULD WISH FOR...… ONLY DOWNSIDE, BBQ WAS PRETTY MUCH UNUSABLE BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT, AND THE GARDEN COULD DO WITH A LITTLE BIT OF TLC.
Lovely well equipped cottage in very good state of repair. A short drive to beaches, shops and a couple of pubs, fitter people could walk to teh pub.. It was execllent for our 2 dogs and plenty of walking for them. There was plenty of thoughtful infromation left at the cottage on where local amenities and attractions are. The stairs may be challenging for some people. The is so much equipment in the kitchen that food storage was a minor problem. especially with a dog! It was pretty clean but we did find a couple of places taht had been continually overlooked, including a washbasin plughole full of hair.
Cottage itself is lovely: however, we had 2 dogs and a small front area with astro turf- so needed to walk up the lanes early doors each day. My naievity in thinking garden meant something else. Heating didn't work and no one came to fix it.
Our stay October, 2019
Beautiful, well equipped cottage in idyllic surroundings
