This detached, contemporary holiday home is located in the quaint, fishing village of Looe and has an outstanding view across the estuary and the sea. Looe has two beaches and many restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. Deep sea fishing, watersports, woodland, river and coastal walks nearby. Plymouth and its National Marine Aquarium, Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Padstow, Mount Edgecombe, Bodmin Moor and Polperro are easily reached. Shop and pub 150 yards.
The house is lovely, the view is amazing! Thoroughly recommend but not to nervous drivers or those with mobility issues. The local people are really friendly.
What an amazing home. It was better than I imagined, beautifully furnished to a high standard and has everything you need ( I think there was every type of glass for every type of drink ) 😊 The house is at the top of a very steep and narrow road as everyone mentions but once you’ve driven it once it does get easier. The locals get up no problem , we bumped into the cleaners who were three ladies in a Ford KA and all their cleaning equipment, they manage fine so please don’t be put off by reviews that say it’s too difficult. My only concern would be if you were not very steady on your feet or had mobility issues , the hills in general around Looe may be an issue and the hill up to the house would prove difficult. The view from this place is truly beautiful , both the decking area and both double bedrooms look straight out over the estuary and out to sea. The weather was a bit mixed so we couldn’t make use of the decking every day but we did manage to BBQ on a couple of afternoons. ( The bbq is the only thing that I could say needs addressing, it’s seen better days and could do with replacing ) Coastal walk from Polperro back to Looe just stunning ( a little hilly in parts ) Took my husband and I and our two teenage sons just over 2hrs but that’s without stopping, there are refreshment stops along the way. ( just to mention , there is a hairdryer ) I couldn’t find anywhere on the detailed info that said there was one so I took my own but for those that need one it’s there. This place in my opinion was worth every penny and we would love to return again . Five ⭐️
Excellent property with outstanding views. The only reason I scored lower than a 10 for value for money is because all cottages are overpriced during school holidays.
Fab location. V well equipped but road up to house very tricky to drive up as steep, narrow and bendy. That spoiled what is otherwise a brilliant cottage. View from cottage wonderful
Amazing house In a beautiful town, alot of time was spent on the decking enjoying the lovely veiws over the estry
Loved the open plan living, dining, cooking space with great decking area and fabulous views. Also same great views from the 2 double bedrooms. Well situated for walking to the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. A short stroll gets you to the coastal path in either direction. It helps to be quite fit to walk up Daroes Lane that goes to the property. Also, if you are thinking about parking outside the cottage, I would suggest going on foot first to look at the lane before taking your car up so you are prepared for how narrow and steep the lane is. All in all, though, an excellent property in a great location and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
The description of the accessibility to the property needs a lot to desire. Narrow lane and steep hill is not what I would call it. It took me many tries to get up this hill, even after asking the passengers to get out of the car. I still could not get up the hill. Next take out the suitcases and try again. After 3 more try’s I managed to get to the venue. The gentleman who lives at the bottom of the hill who came to help said this was always happening when people came to stay at Tregolve. Once there it was worth the effort for the views. Silly things let the hoe down, for instance lack of tea towels, J cloths, tongs for cooking.
Fantastic cottage with stunning sea views. Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We had fabulous weather and spent lots of time on the beautiful large decked balcony which has been enlarged and refurbished since the website picture was taken and now has glass panels rather than wooden fenci g around it. Tbere is also a beautiful new patio dining set with cushions where we relaxed and ate and drank a lot of evenings watching the moon come up and shine on the sea. The drive up the single track road to the cottage was quite a experience the first time we did it, however you soon get used to it. Not a place for someone with limited mobility however as it is exceptionally steep and once you get to the property there are about 20 steps down to the front door. We loved it and would thoroughly recommend.
Our second time here had a lovely time. The weather was also mind to us.
Our stay December, 2019
This was our fourth visit and the view from the lounge and main bedroom never tires, with spectacular sunrises. The house is well equipped and comfortable and whilst the narrow lane leading to it is a challenge, you soon get used to it.
