These spacious and well-presented holiday homes, set within the owners’ smallholding, with a large garden and patio, are perfectly placed to enjoy the dramatic North Cornwall coast, as they face unspoilt National Trust land overlooking the coast. The stunning beach of Chapel Porth is close by and has a café for breakfast by the beach. Porthtowan with its children’s play area, sand dunes, beach bar, surf school and local pub has all the ingredients for a great holiday. The beach is backed by dramatic cliffs with stunning views from the Cornish Coastal Path that hugs the top of the cliffs and drops into the village walk to St Agnes in the east and Portreath to the west to enjoy the views out to sea. Tehiddy Country Park is close by and a must for nature lovers – a large wood with a network of foot paths and cycle trails. Another great tourist attraction is the Cornish Treasure Park, which celebrates the areas rich gold mining heritage. St Ives, home to the outstanding Tate Gallery, is close by and an essential destination, with its award-winning restaurants and golden beaches. Truro with its theatre, shopping, cinema and cathedral is easily reached and both offer a great taste of Cornwall. Porthtreath, a short drive away is the start of the Coast to Coast cycle path and bike hire is available locally. Horse riding, golf, surfing, kayaking, and local amenities are all available close by. Beach 1 mile. Shop 1 mile, pub/restaurant 500 yards.
Loved it! We’ll be back.
Lovely little cottage, loads of space and plenty of amenities for us during our stay. Kids loved exploring the bedroom
Fantastic little cottage, a short walk from a beautiful beach. All furnishings are in great condition, would gladly stay there again!
Skylarks is in a fantastic location. Only a 15-minute walk to the stunning Chapel Porth beach and a bit longer to Porthtowan beach. Getting around Cornwall was also no bother with quick access to both A329 and A30. Perranporth is only a 15-minute drive and St Agnes a short 10 -minute drive. The kitchen was stocked with basic essentials - washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, etc and the scones and clotted cream on arrival were a nice touch. The wet room is also a good idea especially after a day at the beach although an outside tap would be great for washing wetsuits. The property was clean and roomy however the beige carpet (probably not the best color for a holiday let) is looking worn and in the hallway was stained. The mattresses in all the beds were also springy and very uncomfortable. Outside, the patio had loose slabs and the wooden table and fence have seen better days. All in all this property is feeling tired and in need of a refresh throughout.
Gray base for exploring Cornwall.
Very pleased with the holiday house. The only thing to maybe update is the photograph of the garden as on the website it had a picture of a goal post in the garden to use but this has since been updated with a fence so no access to the goal post (so a disappointed 6 year old footballer!!!). But wouldn't matter if you didn't have football crazy boy!! Other than that, rooms are spacious and a nice little bungalow for our base in Cornwall.
Really excellent week. For our family of 4 the perfect size cottage. Only a 10 minute stroll to the beach and 2 minutes to The Victory for some great pub grub. We've been coming to Porthtowan for 10 years and normally stay in the flats on the beach but this year decided to try somewhere new and have already booked up for next year!
Our stay January, 2020
Perfect practical choice for a visit to our new granddaughter.
