This quaint and deceptively spacious cottage offers an idyllic base for couples and families, nestled among woodland, and tucked up a quiet lane, this rural retreat is a haven for those wanting to get in touch with nature. Riversleigh Cottage is a beautiful example of a Cornish cottage full of character features, wooden beams, wooden floors, a decorative Aga in the kitchen, and traditional steep stairs to the first floor. Here you will find a large family bathroom. The master bedroom with stunning views, a king-size bed and is decorated tastefully. The second bedroom has twin beds, ideal for children or adults. Downstairs you’ll find the kitchen/dining area with plenty of room for entertaining, ideal for children to draw and play board games whilst you are cooking. Traditional features such as the stone wall, wooden beams and mix of tile and wood flooring compliment the ambience of the cottage. There is a cosy snug with a wood burner, ideal for curling up with a good book, or just lazing about. The snug leads to the conservatory which overlooks the stunning garden. Here you can enjoy the tranquillity, play board games, or just chat and admire the stunning garden, if the weather is good, open the stable doors to let the outside in. The garden offers so many options, the covered outdoor seating area provides shade and a perfect spot for watching wildlife in the nature pond. An outdoor games room with table football and darts for endless family fun. The seating next to the wood burner is an ideal place to sit and unwind under the stars with a glass of wine or a hot chocolate! The table and chairs on the patio are a perfect spot for al fresco dining. Riversleigh Cottage does not have it’s own dedicated parking but there is a layby right opposite the entrance to the cottage that accommodates two cars. The lane is really quiet and peaceful and there are no neighbours to compete for these spaces.
The village of Porkellis is a short walk from the cottage, where you will find a friendly, local pub serving a warm welcome and homemade food, great for those days when you don’t want to cook! Why not pack your walking boots and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, take a stroll along the nearby beaches of Porthleven and Maenporth. Pop into the historic town of Falmouth to sample the wonderful food and beverages on offer. Visit the impressive Maritime Museum or the fortress built by Henry VIII at Pendennis Castle. Ten minutes’ drive from the cottage is the market town of Helston well known for its Furry Dance. Stop for the best fish and chips, or a coffee and snack at the boating lake. If you fancy a boat trip, pop to nearby Porthleven, a typical fishing harbour. Here you will find ideal gifts made by local artisans as well as plenty of choices for refreshments. Stithians Lake Watersports Centre is an 8-minute drive, where you can participate in paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and even trout fishing. If you want to go further afield, the city of Truro is about a 40-minute drive. Here is the majestic Cathedral as well as quaint cobbled streets that house a variety of independent shops. On the right days you’ll find small markets hidden down characterful alleyways. You will be spoilt for choice for where to eat and drink.
